The Corps of Engineers has contracted with a private dredging company to dredge the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway at Lockwood Folly Inlet Crossing and place the dredged sand on Holden Beach.

The project appears to be moving along fine. As of the beginning of the week, the dredge material has been placed extending to 275 Ocean Boulevard East. The material looks great. Informal conversations lead us to believe the material will extend to Avenue E.

As of April 26th, the project is complete. Final results on material volumes placed on the beach will not be available until completion of the post dredge survey some time next week, but the initial measurements indicate a new 150 foot wide, 4,500 foot long stretch of dry sand beach.
